I want to be there for you.
I want to be what you need.
Show me what would change this.
Show me what you wish you could do.
I feel every outburst with you.
I feel the weight of your load.
Tell me how to help you.
Tell me what you see.
I pray every night for your safety.
I pray every night you make it home.
Give me a clue you’ll be just fine.
Give me an answer so you’re not alone.
I touch you in the only way I know how.
I touch you to help us feel this is real.
Lay down with me until our bodies can rest.
Lay down your worries on my chest.
I cry for the pain we incite with these biting words.
I cry for the love which keeps me awake at night.
Clean up the broken mess we’ve left on the floor.
Clean up the crumbled anxiety which keeps us apart.
I see you but am missing something internal which you fight.
I see everything you are, but also can become.
Fill my ears with your untold family sorrow.
Fill this hollowness until it feels like home.
I kiss you to tell you I still want you.
I kiss you because you’re the one I’ve chosen to love.
Show me what will change this.
Show me what you need us to do.
