Conditional

I’m done with conditional love
Now I see that’s all you can give
Yet I was so very ready to give
The kind that we all dream of

Maybe you don’t know me
Like you should
And Maybe I don’t know you
Like I would

But when I truly see
How you make me feel...
When I see myself, I see
That’s not how it should be

I need something strong
I need someone lasting
I don’t need someone passing
And I don’t need something wrong

I need someone who can still
See the good in me even
With my stubborn will
And who can let go of what’s been

Because I’m so ready to
Do the same for another
I can and will love so:
I need an unconditional other
