In Return

You’ll take me by surprise
And I’ll smile in return
You’ll look me in the eyes
And I’ll feel my heart burn

You’ll take a step so close
And I’ll want so badly to stay
You’ll ask me how life goes
And I’ll not worry what I say…

But they say to let go
And I say I don’t know
And what you say doesn’t show
Where this or I should go

You’ll have to say goodbye
And I’ll leave with new hope
You’ll really seem to try
And I’ll hang on to the rope

You’ll suddenly disappear
And I’ll really try to see
You’ll be everywhere but near
And I’ll hope you think of me…

But they say to let go
And I say I don’t know
And what you say doesn’t show
Where this or I should go

Right now I guess you’re gone
But sometime soon you’ll be back
Right now I could be wrong
But hope next time you’ll tell me what we lack…

And they say to let go
And I say I don’t know
And what you say doesn’t show
Where this or I should go…
