Never-Dying

Tear droplets are rolling down her cheek
Not for the ceaseless pains
Which course through her veins
Not for her body which is growing so weak

Wrinkled hands are squeezing mine
Not for the drown-out year
Which brought what she had to fear
Not for her legs lying in two stiff lines

Eyes are drifting with her voice
Not for the invading rasp
Which age has let her chords grasp
Not for her cough creating an unwanted noise

But none of this she shows for her

She’s shakily wiping away water droplets
For the person
Sitting here whole
She’s breathing in and out for my wishes

Me, the person sitting here straight
I the young one
With yet smooth skin
Me, the person who arrived here late

Now, I’m listening to the voice of an angel
She prays above
Whispering, full of love
The rasp is coming from an angel

I’m grasping hands on which time has left its imprint
She smiles at me
And What I can’t see
Because I can’t see how it’s all heaven-sent

Still, I’m gazing at her beauty, ageless
At her wrinkles
Which won’t be ironed out
Her life is more than I can write, page-less

I’m holding onto the soul of a model
A heart of perfect curves
Whose beat never unnerves
A mind whose vision could never be bottled

She’s the woman who will never stop giving
Though her time is short
She’s still a queen in a court
Commanding me to never finish living

She’s a celebrity for what she gives away
One endless prayer
For one ceaseless care
She’s a superwoman in her perfect way

She is more beautiful than I can comprehend
Her broken body shines
As her pure joy unwinds
She has a beauty that no one can pretend

She has saved me and strengthened others
The hope she shows
No one else quite knows
She reaches out from under her covers

She is lovely as she is crying
I collect her tears
Which add a fragrance to both our years
Her beauty: it’s never-dying
