The Ramble of Our Lives

So often the most significant moments in our lives

Creep up on us as we inhale and exhale, unaware

Of the true love, joy, and hate surrounding

Our often inadequate and always imperfect human ways.

We close our eyes to the deeper meaning of the minutes

Which circumvent our wandering minds,

Our listless spirits, and our dissatisfied souls.

We overlook the practical beauty

Of the commonplace everyday

Until we look back upon our age

And see the depth of the gift of time to learn

From our undervalued mistakes.

There is grace in the daily seconds

Which we don’t realize

Should always still take our breath away

Despite the ever-changing ramble

Of our hopes, dreams, faith, and lives.
