To Every Guy

Oh, I don’t feel like searching
And I’m no longer waiting.
I don’t think there’s such a thing
As a real life happy ending.
You’ve all shot down the hope I was defending.

If I could only meet one guy
That would prove I didn’t have to ask why
I thought he was or wasn’t about to lie.
A guy who didn’t chase me for the high
And who when leaving, at least, could say goodbye.

A guy who knew what he wanted exactly,
Knew what I was worth to him especially,
And was willing to give his love freely.
But no, I’ve yet to find a man who really
Cared about me as the person I am truly.

Men why can’t you simply get,
That we just want a guy who really means what he meant,
Doesn’t treat us like we’re a walking bet,
Or make us feel like we need to change the rules we’ve set,
Because the above is all I’ve been able to find yet.

Oh, if only there was a man who knew how to give
And wanted to make me enjoy more the life I live,
Instead of just using me to improve only his.
But right now I don’t think there really is,
So unless you can prove me wrong; just let me live.
