Frenzy

I told him he was being anxious;

Over worrying about a virus

Chances said wouldn’t touch him.

I called him a hypochondriac;

Said our demographic odds were slim.

But yesterday I saw a stranger sneeze

And it nearly brought me to my knees.

Today, I ventured to the local store

To find the aisles were scavenged

Like we were in the midst of a war.

The Virus hasn’t yet touched me.

I don’t personally know

A single soul who’s been afflicted.

But my mind wanders back

To what I claimed was your hysterical show

And I no longer claim it was all in your head.

We’re both still young, strong, and healthy

No signs of debilitating ill health–

Well, except for decreasing mental wellness–

As this spectacle becomes a self-feeding frenzy.
