Fractured Glass

If I scream loud enough will you hear me?

If my voices shatters your earlobes

And my fists break this glass,

If I set aflame the norms of our home

And I smoke out these memories,

Will it be enough to teach you

How much I’m haunted by our past?

———————————————————

But as I walk across this threshold,

As I touch the remnants of our hope,

And I see my altered reflection

Strewn in fractured mirrors across our floor,

I realize I may have become

Everything I was fighting against,

Everything I always hated,

Everything I once said was on the other side of this door.

    1. Couldn’t agree more! I have seen again and again over time how we so often become what we are most afraid of becoming. But I also think there are lessons learned and hope to be gleaned for something better from the process of “becoming.”
