Is the middle such a bad place?
I don’t believe that you’re all wrong.
I don’t have the audacity to think that I’m all right.
So when did it become taboo to find a central space?
Your background, family, and hundreds of little life experiences
Have added up to turn you into you who you are.
My rearing, faith and years of emotions I can’t quite describe
Have all led me to reach for a different star.
But is the middle such a bad place?
In that central circle can’t we find those every-human moments
That teach us love, passion, hard work, and to set a pace?
Somewhere between these seemingly (but not so very) opposite sides
Don’t we find our saving grace?

Although I’m a contrast person, I do understand people that stands somewhere in the middle. Besides, I think most people must have experience to be there at least once in their life.

I just feel like we have lost our ability to work together/understand both sides of an issue in our country. In a small way, this poem is about that.
