When is the last time you looked up at the night sky?
Took a walk along the water’s edge,
Stars’ reflections along the bay,
Flickering between the waves
Constant in their rotation come what may.
When was the last time you touched the fresh, frigid air?
The exhale of earth’s breath
Onto the landscape harvest has left bare,
The circular travel of our lives
Around a natural rhythm
We dare to call time while we’re alive.
When was the last time you stood in awe of the night sky?
When was the last time you took the chance
To lay your inhibitions at the feet of lengthening shadows,
To find rejuvenation and wonder
In the renewal that comes only
With the Earth’s spin, seasons’ change,
Night’s hidden beauty, and Mother Nature’s repose?
