Solitude

Will I let this solitude bring me peace?

Or will I watch it lead me down the spiraling staircase of my mind?

In these quiet, still, but lonely moments,

Can I accept the memory of all my past mistakes?

Or will I punish myself once again for words I said,

What I didn’t, and where a few simple choices have led?

In these twilight hours, can I see the beauty of this home

Even if it sometimes lies within the shadows?

Will I find inspiration in the midnight that brings a new day?

Or will I hide these ruminations at the feet

Of another sleepless night within this empty bed?

  1. Very well done! Introspection can bring back the best and the worst of us!
