I choose to find hope,
Hope in the transitions
That propel our country forward
To something more.
I choose to find hope,
Hope in this people that
Can still come together
Within all these fears
That chase us toward different sides.
I choose to find hope,
Hope in lengthening days
That slowly overtake
This past winter’s night.
I choose to find hope,
Hope in earth’s rotation
That brings about winds of change
And uses the evening chill
To bring us closer to together —
To keep us reaching for what is right.
I choose to find hope,
Hope for a future
That sees these seeds of faith
Grow larger than our past fights,
That sees these signs of renewal
Grow beyond what we can imagine in just one life.
I choose to find hope.
