When that fury builds overtop
The fences I’ve set to ensure I follow
Our societal, cultural, expected rules,
I find myself taking action.
When that pressure from synics
Begins to press in upon my temples,
To restrict the flow of blood and hope in my head,
I tell myself I must take action.
When the aggression of the bullies
Topples over the safeguards
My community relies on to stay whole,
I will always take action.
When the silence grows too loud
To hear the truth which has been masked by muted lies,
I have no choice but to find my voice,
To write and star on a new stage
In which I watch us all take action.
