Papyrus

If this was the chapter’s end–

No goodbyes, tears, or sighs–

To forewarn what was on the next page,

Would I be able to flip these papers over without you?

Would I be able to write the next sentence on my own?

Would I draft a better informed thesis —

Having learned from what I failed to do before?

Or would I etch regret into the papyrus,

Writing and rewriting all the words

That never made it onto the old page?
