Realist

I’ve been told our childish games

Have no choice but to work out in the end.

Perhaps this helps us to naively believe

That one day this impasse will change; one of us will bend.

But I’ve also heard that all is fair

In both love and war.

So perhaps the realist also learns to embrace

Both the beautiful and harsh moments within

Every cracked open and slammed shut door.
