The Romantic

You know I love you.

I know without you I’d be a mess

And that if I got lost

You’d never stop searching for me.

And yet for too long now,

I’ve forgotten how to write

About the flame that just keeps burning

The tension that still builds

Until I have you and you exhale with me.

For too long we’ve only left that pilot light going

Without releasing the full force of our energy.

Darling, come near and let me draw you in

So I can prove I’m still a romantic,

That I still believe in corny punchlines,

Sleepless nights, and lusty dreams.

Don’t you forget to still be a romantic

And that you’re whole within me.
