Every day we’re planting seeds.
Seeds of roses and seeds of thorns
That will grow, entangle, and spread
Until we see a garden
Full of the wild, beautiful, harsh, and tame.
Seeds full of past mistakes
And new lives– both good and bad–
All within a ground we’ve sown
And all to become something larger,
To all reach for the sun beyond the trees.
Yes, every day we’re planting seeds,
Some for us to touch and kiss and see;
Some for us to hide from,
And some for us to wish for but never hold
As the future beckons for growth
Beyond you and me.
