I have a pit in my stomach,

An ache that tells me all is not well,

A queasiness that tests my spirit

And lays my will out on the ground for all to see.

I wish I could better describe

What all of this-

These hopes, dreams, regrets, and fear-

All add up to and ultimately mean to me.

But instead, I sit here, stare,

And try to summarize what I know

As my stomach turns upside down,

My head spins,

And I find myself trying

To replant my feet on the ground.

  1. I think I know what you mean, and it’s an ugly feeling that grows and dissipates. It comes and goes, starting and starting over each step. At least, that’s how I resonate here with this poem. Extremely well penned and vivid!

    1. Couldn’t agree more! Thanks for the kind words!
