Safe House

In these moments, I miss you.

During these nights, a melancholy sets in.

I forget to look ahead

And I only see what once was.

Your face illuminates my inattention

And your emotions fill my dreams.

I am transported to the moment

When I failed to say goodbye.

I see myself hidden in the grains of those walls,

Watching from within the cracks,

And all I can focus on is your face,

Your eyes, your touch, your grace.

In these moments I miss you

And I’d give anything to hold you,

To protect you, let you protect me,

To once again feel safe.
