Rush

Whether this force is pushing me around in circles

Or propelling me toward a better future

I honestly can’t tell.

But the rush has been released.

The power has been set free.

All I know is that soon,

On the other side of this storm,

After the dead limbs have been torn down,

The ground has absorbed the extra rain,

And the clouds have dispersed back across the stars,

I will see another version of me.

I don’t know if that person will be soaked to the bone in change

Or bone dry in apathy.

I don’t know if that person will find new treasure

Or find her body stuck, decaying in place.

But nature has released its fury.

Time continues to push its boundaries.

This storm will take me somewhere,

To someplace,

And it may turn me into something I’m not ready to face.
