In these times, we find ourselves fighting.
The chaos in our minds swirls around our home
And sinks into our daily actions, small interactions,
Even when we swear that the last thing we want is to be alone.
But these times bring grief, unexpected change,
Loss, confusion, and fresh bursts of hope mixed with fear.
And we both try to be our best for this little home
We still do call our own.
But we both know that nothing is the same
As it was 7 months ago.
The truth sinks in
That the future we had planned will now never be.
And I know we are walking toward a future
That will still be bright and beautiful– for you and me.
But I don’t know how to let go
Of what we both thought we would someday see.
