It’s not just the loss of what you once had,
That can eat your insides
And drive you mad.
It’s also the loss of all those hopes
For which you had once yearned
And that no longer dangle
As possibilities up ahead
That can mix you up
And twist around your head.
I try to envision a new future-
One without most of the past hopes I had held-
But all I still see is a blank horizon,
Lacking your star, our constellation,
Our old dreams.
I now see emptiness instead.
